This is the crude beginnings of a page with Tips & Resources about indonesian immigration policies.
Social Visa and single entry Business Visa are
for 60 days only.
The must be applied for at indonesian embassies or consulates.
The application fee at indonesian embassies varies and is usually between US$
50 - 80.
Both of the above Visa types may be extended up to 4 time to a maximum of 180
days.
The official extension fee at indonesian immigration offices is IDR 200,000.
But service fees being requested may exceed the official fee.
You may apply for extension by yourself, all you need is 2 more form letters
from your sponsor for each extension and some other forms to be filed at immigration
office, copies of passport and 2 photos each time.
Most people I hear about pay someone at immigration or at a consultancy office
(biro Jasa) for service.
The total cost per 60 days tend to be 350,000 - 500,000 IDR then.
If you want to have your own business in Indonesia, you need to establish a PMA (foreign owned investement Corporation) which than may incorporate domestic PT. or CV. for the conduction of regular business.
A PMA officially requires US$ 50,000 Investment, but you may need much less
if your incorporator is experienced in setting up PMA's.
PMA plus KITAS will require a cash minimum of approx. US$ 6,000 including the
KITAS tax and the whole process may take up to 3 years before finalized. Some
people say though it became much faster recently
The KITAS may be processed and issued within 2-4 month after starting the PMA
incorporation.
Workaround #1:
You know an indonesian who deserves being trusted, establish a CV. (personal
liability corp.) which conducts your new business and sponsors your KITAS.
Processing time for required documents: 2-6 months
Required cash investment:
US$ 700-1,000 for incorporation incl. neccessary licenses and "Service
fees"
US$ 500-700 for KITAS processing
US$ 1,200 for Jakarta (Ministry of Labour)
Expect to pay min. of RP. 150,000 tax per month on your KITAS.
Workaround #2:
Find a local company to conduct your business and sponsor your KITAS
Accomodation:
You may find a traditional balinese Bungalow with 2-3 small rooms, kitchen,
balinese bathroom, terrace and garden for US$ 300 - 1000 per year based on annual
prepaid contract if you go 5-10 Kilmometers off Kuta area
(Canggu for example).
In the touristic centers of Kuta, Nusa Dua, Legian or Seminyak you will find rooms with kitchenette/bathroom for US$ 15-50 on a monthly base.
